“Dublined” – the odd word that means bad news for refugees.

The government gave its word that the inhabitants of the Calais Jungle would not be ‘Dublined’. Put plainly, they would not be subjected to a European agreement signed in Dublin, which demands that people applying for asylum finish all the necessary steps in the same country, normally their first point of Entry into Europe. These exiled people mostly travelled through Greece and Italy, but Bernard Cazeneuve expressed his commitment to the acceptance of applications for asylum in France, which would stop people from being forced to return to these countries. Three months later, this commitment has proven unsuccessful. And a number of refugees find themselves trapped in a dead-end in France.
